Carrier-Class VoIP and IMS Load Test

Today's carrier-class VoIP and IMS networks require carrier-class testing equipment to verify proper functionality under stress conditions.

Hammer load testing solutions are used in lab and trial networks to simulate peak calling periods, mass calling events, registration floods, malicious flood attacks and other situations in which the network is placed under moderate to extreme stress.

Empirix's load testing solutions include:
  • Hammer G5 addresses the need for integrated, comprehensive, and flexible call profiles including feature and load on a single carrier-class testing platform that can scale from 4 to more than 200,000 endpoints.
  • Hammer FX-TDM for simulating hundreds to thousands of simultaneous callers.
  • Hammer Registration Tester for generating high volumes of registration traffic and background registration load
  • Hammer DEX for emulating device-to-device interactions
  • Hammer Call Analyzer for troubleshooting and diagnostics during tests
  • Hammer NetEm for simulating real-world IP network impairments and problems

Hammer G5
The Hammer G5 offers an integrated package for pure feature and load testing, in addition to more sophisticated scenarios of functional-load testing. Built on Empirix's Hammer FX (VoIP feature test) and Hammer NXT (high density VoIP load generation) products, this new platform offers the combined capabilities of both in a unified user and programming interface.

Stress testing of VoIP and IMS products and services requires high call-volumes, realistic simulation of end-user devices, quick test setup, and comprehensive reporting at a price that can fit a lab budget. By combining carrier class volumes of IP traffic with detailed analysis, diagnostics, and reporting, the Hammer G5 test platform delivers the industry's leading price for performance and capability.

Hammer G5 is capable of producing a combination of VoIP signaling and real media on every call, scaling from thousands to more than 200,000 simultaneous calls.

Hammer FX-TDM
The Hammer FX-TDM allows you to perform the same testing for SS7, TDM, and analog signaling and media testing. It can operate under the same configuration and control interface as the Hammer G5, or separately.

Hammer Registration Tester
Registration traffic consumes a significant portion of network resources in today's carrier-class VoIP and IMS networks. The Hammer Registration Tester is an optimized, cost-effective solution for generating hundreds to thousands of registrations per second, both with or without authentication. The Hammer Registration Tester can be used by itself for registration load testing or in conjunction with the Hammer NXT to generate background registration load during call-related tests for simulating real-world traffic profiles.

Hammer DEX
Today's networks often involve many device to device interactions. The Hammer DEX is an infrastructure device platform that emulates VoIP and IMS infrastructure elements such as gateway controllers, media gateways, softswitches, proxies, call/session controllers, border controllers, application serves, HSS's and charging functions. The Hammer DEX can be used in conjunction with load testing when conducting an isolation test or in any scenario in which one or more real infrastructure devices cannot be acquired or are too difficult to maintain, setup, and manage as part of a test environment.

Hammer Call Analyzer
Quickly identifying the root source of network problems is critical to timely deployment and customer satisfaction. The Hammer Call Analyzer, known as the HCA, is a time-saving diagnostic and analysis tool for VoIP, IMS, and converged networks. The HCA can be used to uncover, isolate, and troubleshoot signaling and media problems. Valuable features of the HCA include full protocol decodes, call/session correlation across multiple protocols and multiple domains, call/session flow visualization and media analysis.

Hammer NetEm
Real networks rarely exhibit the ideal IP network performance that occurs in the lab. The Hammer NetEm is a network impairment tool used to simulate real-world and worst-case IP network conditions including bit errors, lost packets, jitter, and packet reordering.
