Chief Executive Officer
Bringing more than 25 years of industry experience to the role, John D’Anna is Chief Executive Officer of Empirix, Inc. Prior to joining the company, John served as Senior Vice President of Global Sales and Services for JDSU’s Test & Measurement Product Group. Under John’s leadership, JDSU’s Communications Test & Measurement sales organization built strategic relationships with some of the world’s largest communications service providers and equipment manufacturers. In addition, John led the company’s global services group, a multinational organization focused on delivering services in support of JDSU’s Systems & Software solutions for deployment and maintenance, product support, consulting, and educational services.
John joined JDSU in August 2005 with the acquisition of Acterna, where he was Executive Vice President of Global Sales and Services. Before joining Acterna, John was a Field Sales Representative for Hewlett-Packard’s Test & Measurement group from 1984 to 1990.
Chief Strategy Officer
Franco Messori is a leading authority on network protocols. His extensive experience includes building strong design teams, creating innovative test equipment, and bringing new technologies to market.
In 2009, Franco took on leadership of Mutina Technologies, providing quality assurance technologies for mobile, next-gen IPTV, and IP core networks. He grew the company until it was acquired by Empirix. During his tenure, Mutina also launched a groundbreaking handheld device for advanced, real-time testing in the field.
Prior to Mutina, Franco founded Pro.tel Srl, one of the first companies to offer VoIP monitoring solutions. It was acquired by Sunrise Telecom in 2000 and Franco served as CEO of the Sunrise Telecom Pro.tel Division for six years. He then consulted with international telecommunications companies on network architecture, security, management, and troubleshooting issues.
Before his entrepreneurial work, Franco served as managing director of Ascom Italia from 1991-1996 and became Chief Technology Officer of Tele Communication Systems (TCS) in 1981. Prior to that, he served Telecom Italia former SIP in the Data Transmission Department.
Chief Financial Officer
As Chief Financial Officer, Paul is responsible for planning and reporting on our financial strategy. He brings with him strong finance knowledge and deep operations management experience.
Paul recently served in a similar capacity at Imprivata, Dynatrace, QL2 Software in Atlanta, GA and Telanetix, Inc., a publicly traded VoIP Telecom provider in Seattle, WA.
Chief Product Officer
Edoardo Rizzi joined Empirix as Chief Product Officer after holding various leadership roles at Viavi/JDSU, Trendium, and Tektronix Communications. His most recent role before his appointment was as founder of vivoo inc., a cloud-native application development company in the industrial IoT space.
Edoardo has more than 20 years of experience driving strategy development and execution, product innovation, and go-to-market, and has been directly involved in managing the opportunities and challenges related to technology evolutions such as 3G, 4G/LTE, and cloud native. This makes him well suited to drive growth and lead Empirix through the industry’s next chapter, 5G.
Vice President of Marketing
As VP of Marketing Ian is responsible for Global Marketing at Empirix. Ian brings 25+ years of experience in enterprise software marketing, after starting his career as a programmer with Accenture he moved to Product Marketing Manager for large IT Corporations including Sun Microsystems and has spent the last 15+ years as Head of Marketing at telecom software companies.
Ian joins Empirix after 7 years at Service Assurance provider MYCOM OSI where he transformed the company’s market presence, engineering a world-first marketing leadership position around next-gen, cloud-native and SaaS-based assurance, built market awareness and customer demand that generated the most strategic and largest deals, won multiple industry awards (TM Forum and Glotel), established premier marketing partnerships with Red Hat and AWS.
Ian holds a BEng in Aeronautical Engineering & Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.
Senior Vice President of Engineering
As Senior Vice President of Engineering, Vince is responsible for architecting and developing Empirix solutions. He brings 30 years of industry experience and a passion for building great teams and products to Empirix.
Prior to joining Empirix, Vince led multiple startup companies through hyper-growth phases, initial public offerings, and acquisitions. At Netezza and subsequently IBM (acquisition), he led engineering for more than eight years and was responsible for all product engineering, including hardware and software development.
Prior to that, Vince served as Vice President of Engineering at Concord Communication (acquired by CA). During his tenure, he was responsible for building offshore development teams, performing due diligence on several acquisitions, and expanding product offerings to cover networks, systems, and applications.
Vice President of Sales Engineering
As VP of Sales Engineering, Jim Cantwell is accountable for defining the vision, professional development, and efficacy of technical sales resources and making sure they align with Empirix’s business goals. Jim is responsible for the planning and directing applications engineering activities and sales enablement globally for Empirix. He has also worked in a rotational positions such as leading the Professional Services organization for the Contact Center Assurance practice. He has a depth of business and technical experience based on 20 years of experience supporting the Fortune 500 customers in both the Enterprise and Service Provider market segments. Jim joined Empirix in 2013 after spending nearly 15 years at longtime Empirix partner Avaya in various sales engineering leadership roles. He is a graduate of Barry University in Florida.
Senior Vice President, Customer Success, Services and Support
As Senior Vice President of Customer Success, Services, and Support, Brian is responsible for global profit and loss for Professional Services, Technical Support, and Maintenance Renewals.
He skillfully leads a profitable team of consummate professionals focused on balancing revenue goals with best-in-class services and support for the clients they serve. A strong customer advocate, Brian is passionately focused on helping Empirix clients derive maximum business value from their investments.
He brings more than 25 years of experience in operational excellence and professional leadership as well as experience in mergers and acquisitions, software as a service, enterprise software, and profitable growth strategies. Prior to joining Empirix, he held several senior-level leadership roles in both private and public companies, including PSVillage, where he served as Chief Community Executive. Prior to that, he led the Enterprise Solutions group at RCM Technologies as Senior Vice President and General Manager, controlling a $45 million operating budget and leading several hundred employees across eight US-based operations offices.
